The redesign poll is closed !

A whopping twenty-two people voted this time (an obvious improvement from the previous sixteen).

Out of the twenty-two,

fifteen (68%) wanted this blog styled as in Jeunesse,

four (18%) wanted this blog to look classier,

two (9%) did not want any changes to be made,

and one (4%) wanted this blog to look girly, but not too girly.

So Jeunesse thrashes all the other options. In fact, I've already started on the Jeunesse design (take a look at the background). There still are some glitches with the layout, so bear with me for now : the Labels and the Communicate widget are missing from the sidebar.

Meanwhile, there's one more poll, for which you have one more day to vote : what should I perform for the student concert this coming Sunday ? Hurry now !

I've set up another quick poll in the sidebar

This time, there're even more options (not only does this show my democratic nature, it also shows my indecisive nature). Ms Susan's concert is next Sunday, in the afternoon, and I can't be waiting till the weekend ! The sooner I get responses the better.

The current options I've taken for the poll are as follows :

The Beatles - Blackbird (but perhaps, I’ll be taking the rendition by Carly Smithson of American Idol fame.)

Watch/listen to every single one (particularly the titles that you aren’t familiar with), and vote at the sidebar. Which one has the most power to move people’s hearts ? Keep in mind that for all my versions of each song, I'll be omitting the percussions, I'll be singing alone - perhaps - and I generally prefer slower songs because everyone can relish in the music (and perhaps, the lyrics).

Currently under reconstruction

I've already messed up the Labels widget, so it's now currently away from the blog.
There's only one more day left to vote but it looks like the style for Jeunesse has thrashed all other options.

So here's what I'll do : I'll slowly reconstruct the elements. Background first, followed by labels, followed by communication box. You might have to bear with me as this blog might have some bungled up CSS/HTML.

How should I restyle troisnyx* officiel ?

So far eight people have voted. That's only like, say, 50% from the amount of voters in the previous poll. Where did all the people go ? Guys.......... ultimately you'll be feasting your eyes on the layout of the blog, whatever it may be. So go and vote.

One thing I noticed about this poll is that the competition is rather fierce, with five options open to voters. I remember when the previous poll was still up, those who wanted the player to be in autoplay mode actually thrashed those who didn't want it in autoplay. Now, the margins are very small and it looks like we need more voters around. Just grab a few friends and bring them over to troisnyx* officiel, will you ?

Sixteen people voted on this poll,

out of which, twelve (75%) wanted future audio drafts to be in autoplay mode,

and four (25%) wanted otherwise.

Which means, from now on, future drafts will be in autoplay mode. Forget pressing the Play button.

Now, I'll have to get the configuration right before I can post my next audio draft right here. Thing is that now, since I have two blogs, there's a 50% chance of the player landing on Jeunesse instead of troisnyx* officiel. I'll have to depend on chance, I guess..........

A new poll is up !

While waiting for the other poll (on audio drafts) to time out, I created another one on the sidebar. This time, it's about styling the blog. As I said in the previous post, I revamped Jeunesse and now, I'm wondering if I should do the same to troisnyx* officiel !

I know some might push for a revamping while some might just like it the way it already is, so there's a poll at the sidebar just for you. Five responses. Seven days. Get as many people to review both blogs and vote.

Guys, you might know what this means. The way is clear.

The French blog is back up again and open for public viewing !
But I won't be putting any links to the blog. If this post moves away from the front page and you wish to go to the French blog, kindly use my profile page.

This time, I renamed it “jeunesse : une désespérante mise au courant” (literally : being young : a despairing girl in the know) and I gave it a more eccentric-looking background and outlook. A befitting layout for an eccentric personality, I'd say.

If troisnyx* officiel is the embodiment of my light, then you can safely assume that Jeunesse is the embodiment of my dark side.

Go ahead - if you're a francophone, or if you're curious to find out what it's about.

P.S. Just don't laugh your head off if you're using Babel Fish/Google Translate to view that blog. That's a request from my heart.

I know. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the translated version for myself. The translators work in the literal sense ; sometimes the wrong word is used in English and makes the text entirely hilarious. If you have trouble actually understanding those posts, you'd better holler me here in this post, on Yahoo ! Messenger, or in the shoutbox.

For the uninitiated, when I hit Autoplay, the song will come up automatically without you having to scroll down and press the Play button. The downside of this is that you'll have to wait for ten posts before the next audio draft is released.

If you choose not to use Autoplay, you can press the Play button yourself and I can put as many drafts as I can on one current standing, BUT you might have to go through the trouble of scrolling down - and I know some of you just hate that very much.

A short sojourn

I'm in Ipoh (to be precise, in Narin's place), awaiting everyone's return - so that Narin, dad and I can go back home.

We spent the night celebrating dad's birthday (the pictures are with Narin, and I'm thinking of keeping them to myself). Oh, and the amount of times dad said "Thank you" - he was overwhelmed ! I reckon that he said it at least fifteen times.

As for me, I'm here, with a veeeeeeeryyyyyyyyyy sloooooooowwwwww Internet connection (so slow to the point that most pages load with "https://" instead of "http://"), with an incessant urge to drum, and no pyjamas. I actually had to borrow Jasvin's pyjamas yesterday night.

Dad's car tyre got all flat - it was punctured by a nail - yet again - this is, I think, the fourth time ever since he parked his car in the open-air parking lot near our place - and we spent at least two hours looking for a car service centre so we could change that tyre, and get a new spare tyre. The spare tyre we used back there was quite old - at least a year old - and we were scared that it'd give way. So we went and searched for a service centre.

We ended up using the wrong way and landed into the SMART tunnel - for the very first time. After an exhiliarating ride, we ended up in Jalan Sultan Ismail. We searched for shops in the heart of KL but to our dismay, all of them - and I mean ALL OF THEM - were closed.

So we went out of KL - up to the road near Batu Caves - but we couldn't find a single service centre ! We went even further - to Rawang - and all the car service centres were closed.

Finally, we found one, at the side of the road. Thing about that shop is that they know the other stores are closed. Instead of the normal RM5, they charged us like, RM10 ! They exploited the fact that almost all stores are closed for the Chinese New Year holidays.

Nyeah well, we got our tyre fixed.

Dad will be away from Sunday to Wednesday. If Narin's with us, well, at least I won't be alone. :)

Meanwhile, can you readers please do me a favour ? There's the post right below this, an MP3 draft of "Le Paradoxe", albeit with the quality of an AMR file. Please do listen to it, and comment on the post (shoutbox comments are welcome, but it'd be better if you guys could comment on the post itself). And do tell me what you think ! Just so you'd know, I wrote, played and sang that song. Recorded it on my phone and edited it with WavePad (but to little avail).

Just a tip to save you guys the trouble of searching for the lyrics : you see the Navbar above ? In the search box, type "Le Paradoxe" and click "Search Blog". All the answers for the query "Le Paradoxe" will be displayed, including the MP3 and the lyrics. The lyrics will be at the bottom of the page. So whilst you listen to the MP3, you may read the lyrics - well, to understand what I'm singing. And since that MP3 player is in autoplay mode, you'll be able to listen to it over and over again while reading the translation of the lyrics.

For the musically inclined, I'm sorry if you guys find that I have a tendency to go a microtone/semitone higher than usual. I know something sounds off towards the end. Rest assured that I'll train my voice more - so that this may not happen again.

Meanwhile, I know I shouldn't have put that player on Autoplay mode, because I feel like putting two more flash MP3 players right now - both containing different versions of the piece I was thinking of submitting for the ABRSM songwriting competition - Impromptu 8.27.

There's a bug on this page

For some reason or other, I can't debug it. I know it has something gotta do with my previous entry (the one about the "moleskine" journal) - two of the pictures have a size of 2MP each. I had to put them up in their original size because of the detail I did on those pages. Resizing them wouldn't do those images justice !

It's probably due to the loading of those two pictures that troisnyx* officiel isn't turning out right. Many of the pictures (especially the ones at the sidebar) cannot load, and you may have to right-click "Show Picture" to bring them back. For the moleskine post, you can't right-click and open the picture in a new window/tab to show its full resolution : you only have two options - "Save Picture As" or "Save Target As", I guess. Also, if you look at the status bar at the bottom, it might say "Error in page". The blog might look a bit unsightly. I tried reposting the entry but that didn't work.


So, guys, please bear with me for now.

Rest assured, once this moleskine post goes past the latest ten, the blog will be back to normal. My advice to you : do not refresh this page until that moleskine post goes past the latest ten. If you do, it'll load at a much slower pace.

Yes. After Frenchifying a lot of stuff (while realising that my fellow French-speakers won't be able to read all that), I'm transforming the blog itself.

Rest assured that I'll be more outspoken on the new troisnyx* officiel, and not here (for the sake of some poor souls who do nothing but condemn, when I post home truths about my beloved country). I'll be adding in a few posts every now and then - well, to bring Malaysia, with all her issues and oddities, into the francophone arena.

As for the sidebar, I inverted the colours. The tagline translates to "Writing badly is a crime, for which I am guilty."

The YouthSays/YouthEcho grid has been reshuffled

There were glitches in the old YouthSays/YouthEcho grid, so I removed two blogs - of course, recurrent entries, leaving only Joanne's current blog and Faiz's main blog.

I added new members too !

So now the grid's up and running.

Also, notice that the thumbnails in the Communicate menu have been replaced with these new ones (the blue and pink squares). All of them were done on PowerPoint 2007, in case you ask. I used AutoShapes for the thumbnails (the Chain of Memories cards were done using the "Freeform" shape).

And to all those who make up my friend grid and my YS/YE grid, I truly want to thank all of you for being a part of my life. :)

A few notes

Okay. Firstly, look at the left side of the blog. Tell me what you think.
No, this is what I get when I get so infuriated because of the late release of Re : Chain. The design is somewhat similar to the cards in Kingdom Hearts : Re : Chain of Memories.

And secondly, if anyone can get me some help here, I'd be delighted :

* What do I do if I have properly working speakers but Control Panel says I have no audio device installed ? This means the sound drivers are gone from the PC. Any idea where I can get them ?

* I have a hard disk. For those of you who have been following my updates, it's that Seagate one I was talking about. It's red, and it's supposed to have 320GB memory in it. But there're two problems with it :

- My PC doesn't support the RAW file system (I'd have preferred the file system to be NTFS, like how my PC is)

- This hard disk isn't even detected by my PC. Fine, when I just plug it in when the boot screen (yeah, the one that says "Microsoft Windows XP" with this scrolling thingy at the bottom) comes up, it's fine. At least, for one minute. And after that, it's gone !

So can any techies out there help me ?

I've brought it back to the original layout even before Christmas is here.

And you know why ?
Because I'm not celebrating this year. :'(

I considered the vote from Zara (she voted for Faith Hill but tried changing it to troisnyx* - Kasih, but couldn't) as voting for Kasih, so that makes 7% Faith Hill and 7% Kasih (instead of 8% and 6% respectively). troisnyx* is going to sing the choice of the majority - hurry up now !
