The ride home with Joaan

The ride home with Joaan was nothing out of the ordinary, but it really drew us closer. Much closer.

It all started when I found out that Pn See Tho was not in school. She left early for a course. As I had made a pact with her to send me home on Tuesdays, and she was not there, I had no one to send me home. Or so I thought. Frantic, I called Wing Yie to help me. She just couldn't.

Then Joaan intervened. At that moment in time, she was a Godsend !

The car was in a total mess, but I didn't mind. At the back of the car were T-shirts and clothes for a charity project. My room is always in a mess : this was nothing. And so we shared quotes of my disciplinarian, Mrs Siva's quotes, "My second announcement is on cleanliness." or "This is utter nonsense !" Err yeah. It did have something to do with my Hiroshima-struck room.

Then we proceded to Ressonnant Inc... a little reminder about teamwork (because I lack it !), and then the meaning of the term. Chœur Ressonnant. A corruption of Chœur Résonnant meaning "Resonating choir" or a close mistranslation "resonating heart" - however which way they want to take it...

Browsed through her trainer tags which she received in Negeri Sembilan last year. (I have those tags too !) We shared some memoirs of the finals last year. Oh how I missed it....... and how I loathed the feeling of successive defeat.

And finally, just as I had expected, Joaan and I spoke druminese - again.

She passed me her (second) favourite pair of 7As (oh by the way, these are the thinnest sticks) and gave me a few tips. And I was like, wow. When can I really do this with her ? She told me there were killer drummers out there, yeah... but so far, I've never seen a finer one than her. Honestly. Time to open up.

Just before I left the car, I gave her a tight hug.
