All excited over my DTXPRESS IV

I received my drum kit yesterday evening.

It so happened that delivery was supposed to be between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. But the delivery guys came late because there was a heavy downpour.... and I bet they would have been stuck in the rain. Now, I wanted to call Uncle Raymund and tell him that I would be late due to the rain, and since I had to go and bathe, I told mom to tell him. Aside from the heavy downpour, guess what she told him.

"She is going to be late-lah. She is waiting for her drum kit !"

And she embarrassed me over the phone for half an hour, reducing my credit from 44-something to 20-something. Aie ! So I received an SMS, which was supposed to be directed to Aunty Sharm...... but ended up coming to me :

"Err, Sharm..... Looks like she cannot make it-lah.... she's waiting for her new drum set to arrive !"

With an extra big smile. I flailed my arms and said, Oi, I am coming, darn it !

So it came to pass that the rain stopped and mom sent me to church. I came at about 5:30 p.m. and Daniel was already there. We selected the hymns and continued mass. And after that, Daniel and Vinodh (who was there for mass) went off for yamcha while I stayed alone in church to practise on the drums. I did the beats I have been waiting to do : 16-beat with a customised fill.
And, at that moment, Uncle Raymund came. He apparently heard everything from outside and well, he must have loved it !

For it appeared that he was delighted to see the sticks dance...... in my hands. I kept on drumming... until Aunty Sharm came. And when everyone was there, Uncle Raymund let the cat out of the bag. He had the mic in his hand, and he leaned over to Daniel's side and said, "Guess what, someone got a new drum kit today la......." while gesturing to me.

I rolled my eyes and said, "Did you have to end up telling this to everyone ?"

Aunty Sharm was shaking my shoulders like anything, while Daniel was all smiles, and so were Vinodh, Allan and Uncle Ivan - the rest of them were laughing in excitement. So there was extra laughing in the Sunset Band practice yesterday...... even throughout the two hours. And before we all left, Uncle Raymund said,

"Go home and remember to practise on the drums !"

Again, with a wide smile.

Today when I woke up, I tried to do my little bit of assembly : the entire DTXPRESS came in boxes and had to be set up. So I set up the bass pedal - that was pretty easy. Fixing the beater was tough. The screw was so tight, my fingers hurt ! And at every attempt to secure the beater, it kept on sliding down. I took out the module, and the AC adaptor, and the stool components - and before I could take out any other thing, mom barged in and told me to leave the room at once.

Oh, I just cannot wait for my first practice session at home !!!!!
