It was the last day and I had to go all the way to Alliance Française for registration, and I was hoping there wouldn't be any interviews anymore.
It was a pity DK could not make it to my place because there was a massive jam on the road. I was thinking it would be the Nuzul Quran holiday in Selangor that caused the problem. And sure it did. I went there by cab with mom, all the way from Desa Petaling to Jalan Gurney... only to be stuck on the road for an hour and a half.
The cabbie and I talked about quite a few things. Yes, among them, the French examination. So when I reached there, I became more and more agitated. My excitement increased. Well, it's normal for me I guess - probably not for the others. So there I was, entering the AF building, in a state of shock because it was rather isolated at that time. Still, I went in to the Registration Department and quickly registered myself. It was a good thing I did it on that day itself, or else....... no B2 for me till next year.
I was scared at first, because when I entered in, those in the Registration Department stared at me - open-mouthed. I wonder why... Even a normal student from AF would not get this reaction. Why are they fearing my name so much ? OK, probably they do not fear it, good. But why do they have to stare open-mouthed, really ? What am I ? Who the hell am I ? I said back there, I wanted to register for the B2 - this session. So I did. And I just hope that I may not be the only person to sit for it... otherwise, the examiners are bound to mark me and all, for my age, my maturity and whatnot...
I quickly told the person at the desk that there was a cab waiting for me, and I rushed out. And out there, under the canopy, there were a whole group of students from the Alliance Française - they were seated outside. And what were they staring at, really ? I only jumped out of the Registration Department to rush back to my cab, and they were looking at me with that face - the same reaction the people at the Registration Sect gave me.
One job done, finally. One thing for sure, I may just as well be the youngest candidate to sit for Adult B2. And again, I just hope I may not be the only one... After all, it is worth sitting for the B2 and passing it at this age.
In case you're wondering what the B2 is all about, it's one of the levels in the French exam thing. There're six levels in total (under the new system) : beginners sit for A1 and A2, intermediate users sit for B1 and B2, while advanced speakers sit for C1 and C2, and it's done.
I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I sat for A4. That was under the old system : they used to split the A, B and C ranks into four separate levels. Not anymore.
