"Ma-de-moi-selle Ju-liette a, son Ro-mé-o dans l'Alfa..."
It has been six straight months and the tunes from Alizée's Psychedelices have been ringing in my head. Well, time to do an analysis of every song from Alizée's three albums......
> Now playing : Gourmandises
Moi Lolita
The first track ever - now that explains a seductress Lolita who plays innocent. So far I have not come across any person with that song. Oh, maybe Preet, - and Narin - who has the Moi Lolita hair.
L'Alizé
That song does not suit anyone else except Alizée herself, with all that talk of tradewinds and tornadoes - next !
Gourmandises
Literally meaning "delicacies". I have not come across anyone who indulges in kisses - in public. Next.
Mon Maquis
"Mon maquis" literally means "My forest" - in Corsican dialect. This could describe anyone - any person would take pride in the room, saying it would be a maze of smiles, something inexplicable.
JBG
Adoravelle is hot. She looks like a James Bond Girl. (Oh, and FYI, JBG stands for James Bond Girl). However, I think when Alizée did that song, she was referring to Eva Green's time as a JBG......
Parler Tout Bas
I can name a lot of people who hug their teddy bears and keep their secrets down low. However, I cannot name anyone who is now sixteen and is doing that at the moment. Next.
Abracadabra
The song was actually meant to describe Alizée as a superstitious person. Fitting that description is no doubt, Narin - just yesterday a black cat was passing across the road and she told me to say a prayer. I retorted, "if there are white cats, surely there will be black cats !" And that made her feel much better.
Lui Ou Toi
Written to describe a decision between two lovers ; Daniel Cheong and Justin Wong fit this description. I used to be close to Justin, but ever since I lost my phone during Add Math exam, we drew apart. Daniel, on the other hand, is my furry little teddy bear !
À Quoi Rêve Une Jeune Fille
Chrishandra and me, perhaps. And Narin. And all girls. After all, the song talks about every little girl's dream.
Veni Vedi Vici
Now I have not seen a potential Julius Caesar around. Next album please !!!

> Now playing : Mes Courants Électriques International
J'en Ai Marre/I'm Fed Up
All of us fit that category - we tend to get exasperated over things sometimes. And in the bathroom where we have it all to ourselves, we go "toot-de-toot-toooooot-tooot-de-toot" - although in I'm Fed Up, there are no swearwords whatsoever.
Amélie (M’a Dit)
Alizée looked up to the character from the film Amélie - as a strong woman who has been through all adversity. I would play this song for... Aunty Valerie.
Tempête
I personally do not think this song fits anybody - Alizée sang this in honour of Napoleon Bonaparte, who shared the same birthplace as her. Next.
Hey ! Amigo !
Alizée sings about her friend from Barcelona who loves chiding her, who loves tattoos, and true friendship without makeup. I think this would go to... all my Sunset Band friends, Narin, Johanna, Joyce, Lyana, Sabrina, Wing Yie, Zazie, Eve, Skye, Naomi, Azry Rasyeqa and Ressonnant trainer Joaan Foo.
À Contre-courant
Think about a rush of adrenaline, an exchange of passion, a seance of chemistry, static electrical exchange. Hence the words "a contre-courant." Right now... Daniel Cheong.
L'e-mail a des ailes
Now, who frequently sends me e-mails (and SMS) ? Uncle Raymund, Derrick, Chrishandra, Daniel, Selma, Nomena...
Toc de Mac
I cannot use this song to describe anyone or anything - except my sad predicament in school. Now the senior assistant who was about to retire requested a French song. And so I sang Toc de Mac - which was upbeat, and the teachers said they loved it. However, the students gave no response. I felt like...... a walking shadow from Shakespeare's soliloquy from the play Macbeth, "Life's Brief Candle". Next.
Youpidoo
I forgot the names of all those who lost their virginity in their teens - in school. God bless and forgive them. Next.
C'est Trop Tard
Literally meaning "it's too late", I have not had a situation in which I said this to a boy. But I have said this to a girl once. Good heavens, I forgot her name. Next.
Cœur Déjà Pris
My favourite song from the album Mes Courants Électriques, the literal meaning being "heart already taken" (by death), this one was sung by Alizée for her first love who passed away. For me, a few people whom I treasure dearly have passed away..... my heart goes out to Digli Amachi, my siblings Anselina and Anton, my Tamil teacher Lily Dass, Father Raju...... and all those who died in the faith.
J'ai Pas Vingt Ans/I'm Not Twenty
Now that is one song worth celebrating ! Ever since it hit the top spot in Hitz.TV for three straight months, I took a liking to Alizée's songs. And this is for any girl who just loves her teens - and misses it a lot, perhaps - too many names to cite here. On to the next album !

> Now playing : Psychédélices
Mademoiselle Juliette
I read Romeo and Juliet during my Form 5, only to drop English Literature later in the year, and never have I ever stopped to think that our dear Juliet Capulet would be the party girl. I would suit this song with Adoravelle, Edelin, Fazrina, and prom queen Farah Syazliana.
Fifty-Sixty
There is no one whom I know who was born in the fifties and got exploited in the sixties as a model, in the literal sense of the words of the song. Next !
Mon Taxi Driver
Yes, I know a few people who would love to have the feeling of being in a big yellow taxi, treated like stars - Edelin, Fazrina and Farah Syazliana.
Jamais Plus
Disappointed angels ? Never more ? Next.
Psychédélices
Alizée sings this song mimicking the whims of those who ask themselves, where do men come from ? But for 99% of us, I think we all believe that men are created by God, just like women. Next.
Décollage
Literally meaning "take-off", it tells about a girl who spreads her wings... and soars high. Too many names to cite here. Next. Or am I lazy or what ????
Par Les Paupières
"By the eyelashes". Now, I have had that healing, loving feeling with a few people. I just had to close my eyes... and I will cite the names of Eve, Kiran and Uncle Kenneth.
Lilly Town
Okay, so that is a town likened to Alizée's dreams and descriptions. Next.
Lonely List
According to the song, there is only one name written in the "lonely list" - and I think that does not really apply to anyone (as we Malaysians would tend to write extra - like durian, mamak, football, American Idol !) Next !
Idéaliser
Idéaliser talks about the dark side of an affair - resorting to drink as an escape from life. The soulful vocals and macabre tone actually make this the best song from this album. However, I have no one to fit this description (and thank God !) Next.
L'effet
This would go to mom - and all mommies out there. Children are, without a doubt, parents' pride and joy. Oh, and Happy Mothers' Day in advance !!!
