One one note, we hope for dreams to come true...

Dreams. Pictures, Images and Photos

I talked with a good friend, Farid, about our dreams.

Muhamad Farid: anyway how old are you...?
troisnyxetienne: 17. going on 18 in April.
Muhamad Farid: oowh you're much younger than me...but you can do many things...
troisnyxetienne: I'm sure you can do many things too, if you're at it
Muhamad Farid: i wish to...
troisnyxetienne: Go ahead and try ! I always used to say "I wish" but now I'm trying to act for myself
Muhamad Farid: haha yeah... that's the spirit... kinda push me a little bit...
troisnyxetienne: Surely you can be good at something. Take up a new skill. Flaunt it !
Muhamad Farid: well let's see: you know one of my dreams - don't laugh at it ok...
troisnyxetienne: come on, tell me
Muhamad Farid: this is between me and you...

I decided to put it up on troisnyx* officiel because it's a rather noble dream, and even if it has something gotta do with making a name for oneself, it comes from the heart.

troisnyxetienne: Sure.
Muhamad Farid: ok...?
troisnyxetienne: Okay.
Muhamad Farid: i do love soccer. i play it. but you know what?
troisnyxetienne: You'd like to make the team ?
Muhamad Farid: i even love more on the management side of it...
troisnyxetienne: Wow.
Muhamad Farid: you got me...?
troisnyxetienne: Yeah.
Muhamad Farid: i want to be a top coach, like those in europe, the ones we see on TV. i'd love to be like them.
troisnyxetienne: Wow. For this, I salute you. If you can do the same here and make our football scene much better - make it alive again, the whole Malaysia WILL respect you.

At first glance this'd sound like someone is building castles in the air, but I should think otherwise. Because both his dream and my dream sound impossible.

troisnyxetienne: How long have you had that dream ? Just asking.
Muhamad Farid: since high school. 2003, to be more precise.
troisnyxetienne: Mm. You and I have the same kind of drive. I dreamt of being a singer-songwriter for as long as I could imagine. Just don't let go of that dream of yours, okay ? I'm not gonna let go of mine
Muhamad Farid: it just came up to my mind. but you know in Malaysia, the chance is limited... and even the quality of football here, gosh
troisnyxetienne: I know. I could write the SAME lament about our music scene, you know ? But that isn't gonna deter me from living my dream
Muhamad Farid: yup. it's a shame... i mean our quality of football. it's so disgraceful...
troisnyxetienne: I know. I never got to live through the days of Mokhtar Dahari and Soh Chin Aun so I don't know for sure. But all my lecturers and teachers tell me they used to love going to the football stadium to watch our players back when it was active
Muhamad Farid: but now...?
troisnyxetienne: Hardly anyone goes. That question speaks for itself.
Muhamad Farid: haha i don't even think about watching a football game in Malaysia
troisnyxetienne: Yeah. That's how dismal it is. And here, we don't have activity from artistes. Active ones would release an album at the most, once in two years. but this is taking longer than usual. My favourite artiste, Mylène Farmer (I like French pop by the way) - paling lama pun once in two years
Muhamad Farid: see...? it is usually like that right?
troisnyxetienne: yes. but we can change it. just believe.
Muhamad Farid: if you hear news about malaysian coaching top football club in europe... it's me. lol.
troisnyxetienne: But whatever you do, make sure you revive the scene here. Because I made a promise to myself, no matter where I go, or what I do with my music, the main thing is that I have to revive Malaysia's music industry. And that I will do.
Muhamad Farid: and you want me to revive the football scene in malaysia...? i wish.
troisnyxetienne: Yes. I want you to do that.
Muhamad Farid: they all will hail me as a national hero then, give me a datukship, pencen rm 3000 sebulan... and whatnot?
troisnyxetienne: Look, what matters is that YOU make the difference when others aren't willing to. Will anyone do that in your place ? Perhaps there will be people, but very few. Just like very few people want to truly revive the music scene. It seems like an impossible dream. But if Obama became president, what are our dreams ? We can surely make them come true
Muhamad Farid: true. it takes true dedication to achieve that. it really does...
troisnyxetienne: do it then ! I've started. How I will go up the ranks later, it's by God's good grace.
Muhamad Farid: i have no idea where to start...

Well, all of us don't have any idea where to start, do we ? In the middle we were talking about how dismal the state of our football is, and then before I left, he gave me this message :

Muhamad Farid: don't be suprised if you hear any malaysian becoming a top coach in europe soon...
troisnyxetienne: I won't be. As long as I know it's you.

That conversation with him gave me renewed hope that my dearest dreams will come true.
