Dad has tried endlessly to call that bloviating idiot who messed up with my PC, but to no avail. I'm just waiting for the moment that fool will pick up the phone. Because I know full well that for installing a fake Windows XP there are no reasonable answers, and dad and I have always insisted on original Windows XP since 2006.
We had a contract - i.e. a buy-sell agreement - when that guy told me that one of the PC components wasn't working, thus leading it to restart over and over again without going to the boot screen. I knew back then that I had Norton 360 and that there were no more infections to the PC, although there were database files everywhere. I contracted him the job on the grounds that if that component would get back to work I'd be able to use this PC once again. No more, no less.
Now, he breached his terms by doing more than he should have. There is no excuse for replacing my operating system. Even if Windows does get infected there cannot be a total breakdown of the original system by itself. And there is absolutely no excuse for putting my system files and programme files in both hard drives C: and D:. And there is also no excuse for tampering with the Internet by switching the time back to somewhere in November 2004, when we first bought the PC.
If I were to use the law of contract here, this guy would be sued, no doubt, and he'd lose an action against me (I'm capable of defending myself). But I don't want that mess. So till now we're trying and trying again to get him on the line so that he can explain what a mess he made of my PC.
And in the meantime, as I said in the previous post, there will be no online activity from me.
That too, unless I find another PC with a proper operating system and proper Internet facilities, or unless that bloviating idiot puts my PC back the way it was. And no, I'm not gonna charge him for replacing my operating system. I hold him liable.
P.S. Oh, and chances are that Windows XP Professional might be out of the market by now. I guess my only hope is Windows XP Media Centre. That's all my PC can take : this trusty CPU of mine isn't capable of handling Windows Vista.
