Oh goodness. Talk about bad translation !

I went to Google Analytics, and then I was curious to find out how troisnyx* officiel would look like if it were entirely in French. So I went on to search. And goodness me !

Some notably bad translations included :

This one was originally in French, why lah did they have to change it... (It translates to "Change or die with the passing time" but Google turned it to "Or change die with the passing time").

I know there isn't much of a translation for "zonked" but honestly, this one got me rolling on the floor laughing.

"Snap" = "composant logiciel enfichable" ? Depuis quand, en fait ?

They translated this pretty literally. But I guess I can forgive Google for this one. Because that's an English joke, not a French one.

Since when did "befriend" translate to "venir en aide ?" It should have been "devenir ami de". Oh, and the word "grid" wasn't translated (it should've been "grille").
"I'm digging this one" was translated literally into "je suis de creuser celui-ci", which would give a totally different meaning to what I said. "Creuser" literally means "to dig". It should've been "Cela me plaira" or something like that.

The Malay "Kunci" (key) translated in French becomes "passe oublié" (forgotten pass) ? Why don't they just leave it as Kunci ?

Despite all those blunders, there were some good translations too.

I salute Google for this.

Wow. I'm impressed.

Whenever you "play" a file or a disc, the French term is "lire" = to read. So "Playing Tekken 5" became "Lecture de Tekken 5." Very good one.

Google gave "Damn it" a vulgar innuendo. The French translation literally translates back to the s-word.

I seriously wonder what to do about the bad translation. Tell Google or leave it for the French-speakers to laugh at ?

That's sometimes how people translate Malay-English etc as well~ hehe~

Make me laugh when a foreigner tried to speak in Malay with me...
He said, "Saya sayang nasi goreng. Kamu apa macam?"...

OMG!

direct translation from, "I love fried rice, how about you?"

lolita : my goodness. I know ! XD In fact I was still thinking about the crappy translation that I told my college friends.

And they gave me this other incident where they literally translated "duck !" (as in "tunduk") to "itik !" My goodness...
