Oh, and I just remembered...

I remember the last time I wrote for YouthEcho, I was sub-editor for Education but I didn't get to fulfill my duties because YouthEcho was shelved. I know. It was really sad. Now, they're announcing the YouthSays "Real Voices" project and I'd really love to be a part of it again...

I could just sit down and write full-time once again, like I used to - and oh, there're a lot of things that can be written about. Oh, and by the way, I can't have my YouthEcho address lying idle anymore !

These days I couldn't get Joanne online. She must be really busy with her stuff. Oh, and if only there could be a way for me to IM Khailee or Joel. No, maybe not Joel. Khailee.

Will I be chosen again foir the "Real Voices" ?
Probably not.

hi troisnyx.

its khailee here. i was very sad about youthecho as well, as i was personally helping joanne to push it. in fact, it was via youthecho that we found arzumy, who is currently building a lot of the technical bits in youthsays. as much as it meant a lot to us, we know it meant a lot to you and the writers too.

however, being young and ambitious, our team was pushing a few other big projects at the same time, given very limited resources as well.

hence we had to choose the projects which made the most impact to everyone - like youthsays and YOUTH'09.

in some ways it was a good thing we put youthecho on hold, because if we didn't, who knows youthsays could not have the focus it needed. when we find the right youths to work with, we will be able to revive youthecho and push even more youth projects.

as for real voices, a total of 1500+ youths applied for it, and our team was not involved in selecting the youths. real voices was not an easy project to pull off, as we had to roped in many private partners to make it possible. partners who deep down, felt it's about time there was a more updated, realistic picture of what malaysian youths are like. as you can imagine, they had a hard time choosing an even spread of young malaysians, but a decision had to be made, and they wanted to be fair to all.

it was a good idea to have lots of opportunity for new youths to be part of it. as a result, many long time supporters and friends of youthsays and youthmalaysia were not chosen for the project.

in a way, i guess this is a good thing overall, as i personally believe everyone should be given an equal chance at new opportunities.

my promise to you is that as long as YouthSays has your support, and the support of the youths, we will always be able to open up new opportunities, whether as new projects, new surveys, new events, or new ventures (and believe me a few are in the works!). the larger, more influential we get, the more power and attention we will have. combine that with youths standing up to spearhead their own project as well... there are exciting times ahead!

If you need to reach me, just email support@youthsays.com - we get hundreds of emails but we promise to read each and every one of them eventually!
