Small talk about food

Now, don't be surprised as to why I don't blog much about food here.

Many of us can very well agree that the #1 Malaysian pastime is eating. Malaysia is a nation abundant with food (don't talk about the spices). Even the Malay simpulan bahasa puts some emphasis on food - makan angin = to go on vacation (lit : eat wind), makan hati = to feel sad (lit : eat liver/heart), and we have the famous advertisement catchphrase by Coca-Cola - makan bola, tidur bola, minum Coca-Cola = eat football, sleep football, drink Coca-Cola.

But even if that were to be my #1 pastime, I hardly blog about food because the meals I have are mostly simple and come from home, and I'm happy with them. Even if I do have a splendid meal once in a while, I care not to blog about it because ultimately, it'll share the same fate as all the other meals I devour - it'll be absorbed right into the bloodstream.

I was a vegetarian for years (and that started in my early childhood). Mom was worried, at that time. She sent me to a paediatrician. The peadiatrician told her, smiling, "She looks well-fed !" and had no doubts over my diet. And so I continued. I did taste some meat, but I didn't consume it at all. I only started taking a little more meat like, somewhere in 2005. But to this very day, I take veggies because I prefer them.

And no, I wasn't the type who would leave the veggies behind because they were green. Whatever was green and shiny, I'd eat !
