It's made up of us, French-speakers of all levels. Our big day was today. One year ago, at Strudels Bangsar.
We were supposed to have a meetup on that day at Strudels Bangsar. However, two problems arose - there were only five of us - Joanne, DK, Thierry, Marie and me - and the upper floor of the place could not be used. So we stayed down.
It was then that we got personal and talked about things - I even showed a creative side of the group on my part. I made this subtle quiz but it is still under construction. PowerPoint of course.
Back then, we had plans. We wanted to give this group a simple but trendy and powerful name. This was only between the five of us. I came up with the name I have been thinking of all this while...
... French-Speakers Unite.
It was earlier French Connexion but the name itself did not have much trend and much power. Thus, I tried going to other sites to get ideas. After having seen Sports Unite - the Malaysian youth magazine to promote sports, I renmaed us French-Speakers Unite.
We spent almost three hours chatting and dining in Strudels Bangsar. The only thing was, it could have been better. There could have been more people, but it was a Friday night and it was raining. And again, it was Friday night - the majority of the members wanted to spend time with their families.
I would always remember the three consecutive dates that mean a lot to the people around me.
13th July - Shima's birthday. Shima is one of my best friends. I have quite a number of best friends anyway.
14th July - Bastille Day. I am not French by blood or by nationality, but maybe a part of me is... and again, three of my close friends are French... so it is their national day, a reason to celebrate !
15th July - French-Speakers Unite's anniversary.
Somehow these dates are so easy to remember, but the easiest to remember are 14th and 15th July - because both of them are linked.
To all FSU ! members, you know who you are and I hope you would stop and read on, many happy returns.
